March 12, 2014 Livestream Notes

Published March 13th, 2014

This week on the EQNL "Landmark Live":

  • Omeed Dariani on the "Love Seat"
  • Steve Klug in Klug's Korner
  • Terry "Fairen" Michaels
  • Colette "Dexella" Murphy
  • Emily "Domino/Pentapod" Taylor

Emily Tailor showed off her artistic prowess demonstrating the inlay build technique.

The Basic Technique

  1. Create an interesting pattern of deleted voxels within a 1 voxel width wall
  2. Copy and paste 7 copies of the wall with the deleted voxels to the side to be worked with resulting in a 7 voxel width wall
  3. Select the entire 7 voxel width wall and smooth roughly 6 times
  4. Fill in the original's empty voxels with new colored voxels in your artistic vision
  5. Copy the center slice of the 7 voxel thick wall and paste 1 copy of it touching either side of the colored in original to make it a 3 voxel thickness wall
  6. Copy the center slice of the original and paste it to your heart's content

In the preshow, a timelapse of the creation of a crane was very impressive.  This was followed by a demo of the inlay technique above.

Patch notes and new props were discussed, including

  • Limited time overflow inventory
  • Twerk, err.... Tweak mode. Best thing ever, no more annoying camera-mouse correlated problems!
  • Four new paintings in landmark
  • Claim and Chest Permissions!

In "Klug's Korner", Steve Klug discussed why you see the gears in the bottom right corner.  The reasoning, is that it takes time for your CPU to generate the world where you havent been before.  Also, it can occur when loading other people's claims and while the server is sending you information.  Hopefully they will at least get rid of the jumping effect.
